***
Tricia Rayburn mixes mythology, murder mystery, and romance
in her phenomenal Siren trilogy.
While I didn’t enjoy Dark Water quite
as much as I did Siren or Undercurrent it was still a great read.
The biggest question at the end of Undercurrent
was whether or not Simon and Vanessa would be able to repair their
relationship after the Parker incident. Watching the rest of Simon and
Vanessa’s story unfold was truly enjoyable.
Even though the romance is one of my favorite parts of the
story, it has always been a back drop to the sinister events that occur
whenever sirens are in town, and Dark
Water was no exception. While Vanessa took care of the siren issue for
good, there are still quite a few mysteries in Winter Harbor that need
investigating.
I have always been fascinated by Vanessa’s transformation
into a Siren and how she has to cope with her body’s changes. Since Vanessa has
relatively little guidance on this, it can be a real struggle for her. I don’t
think she’ll ever really live a normal life as much as she wants to.
Dark
Water wraps
up the Siren trilogy really nicely.
Even though Rayburn doesn’t explore Vanessa’s life after the trilogy ends, I
have a good understanding of how she will do in the future. It is a very
realistic ending, and I can’t say much more than that without giving anything
away. I’ve truly enjoyed the Siren series
and am looking forward to Rayburn’s next YA novel.

This is actually the first I've heard about the sirens series, which makes me kind of ticked because it sounds utterly fabulous. That rocky romance bit has me a little worried, just because I get really invested into the relationships between the characters and it'll be hard for me to swallow any horrible problems and tension mixed in. Still, I like paranormal murder mysteries so this sounds like something I should hurry up and dig into!
